is now powered by a processor running at 1 GHz, has a 512 MB, a 7 inch capacitative touch screen and a battery working for three hours of normal operations.

Report: Galaxy S III beats iPhone 4S to become world's best-selling smartphone in Q3 2012

Research firm Strategy Analytics, has released a report which suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S III became the best selling smartphone for the first time ever in the Q3, 2012 beating Apple’s iPhone 4S.

 

As per the report, Samsung shipped about 18 million units of the Galaxy S III while Apple shipped 16.2 million units of its iPhone 4S.

This enabled the S III to capture an impressive 10.7 percent share of all the smartphones shipped worldwide to become the best-selling smartphone, while Apple’s iPhone 4S grabbed 9.7 percent share worldwide.

Samsung has sold 30 million Galaxy S III devices worldwide

Samsung has reached yet another sales milestone with its Galaxy S III flagship. The Korean giant just announced that it has sold 30 million units of the smartphone worldwide. The number includes the I9300 as well as carrier specific versions offered in specific markets such as the United States, Japan, and Korea and is spot on with earlier expectations.

The above number has been achieved in an impressively quick fashion – the first Samsung Galaxy S III units hit the shelves roughly five months ago. BlackBerry no longer Pentagon’s phone of choice

Washington - The Pentagon will no longer retain an exclusive contract with Blackberry maker Research in Motion and has invited companies such as Apple to offer smartphones to its vast work force.

The move, announced on Thursday, comes only days after another government agency, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, said it was dropping the Blackberry device altogether in favour of Apple's iPhone.

The Defence Department insisted it would still continue to work with Blackberry phones and that “large numbers of RIM devices” would remain in use among thousands of military personnel and civilians working for the Pentagon.

HTC India launches 8X and 8S smartphones with Windows Phone 8

HTC is treating Indian users to an early Diwali surprise. A day after we reported that the Taiwanese manufacturer might launch its Windows Phone next week, the company has already unveiled the HTC 8X and 8S Windows Phone 8 devices in the country. Both devices will be available this month at best buy prices of Rs. 35,023 for the HTC 8X and Rs. 19,260 for the HTC 8S.

Bothe devices sport a uni-body design and are based on the Windows Phone Live Tiles. The HTC 8X comes with 4.3-inch 720p Super LCD 2 display coated with Gorilla Glass. The device sports an 8MP CMOS sensor with backside-illumination (BSI) for improved low-light performance, along with an f/2.0 aperture, 28mm lens and a dedicated imaging chip. The front camera is a 2.1MP with f/2.0 aperture and 88 degree ultra-wide angle lens, which also allows for high-definition video capture.

8X is also the first Windows Phone with Beats Audio technology and an audio amplifier.There is no expandable storage on 8X but you will get 16GB of on-board storage, part of which will be used by the operating system itself.
