Blackberry Playbook hacked to run DOS, Windows 3.11

Previously, we have seen how Blackberry playbook is able to run Android OS on it, but now a few users have uploaded a video wherein they have ported DOS over the playbook and are able to run Prince of Persia, Wolfenstein 3D, Lion King on it. And if you thought that was it then let me tell you that another user ported Windows 3.11 and yes it did work quite well as you can see in the image below.

It would be interesting to see as to which would be the next OS that would be successfully ported to the Blackberry Playbook.

Nokia 801T for China image and specs leaked

With all the leaks doing the round, this one comes straight from China. Pictures of a probable Nokia 801T have emerged over a Chinese forum which comes directly from the Telecommunication Equipment Certification Centre, China.

The device has TD SCDMA /GSM support with an 8MP camera and no physical button on the front. Well this brings us to a question that the device will run on Symbian ^ 3 OS and so how will a user access the menu? Probably it will run Symbian Belle as it doesn't need one.

World's cheapest tablet 'Aakash' receives 3 lakh pre-launch bookings

The world's cheapest tablet, Aakash, costing about Rs 3,000, has received about 3 lakh pre-launch bookings for its commercial version that goes on sale later next month.

A subsidised model of this tablet, made by UK-based Datawind, is already being distributed free in schools and colleges. Aakash's retail bookings exceed India's estimated 250,000 tablet PC market, dominated by Apple, Samsung and Reliance.

"The bookings have been done without any money received in advance. We have identified an operator for a data plan at Rs 99 a month," said Datawind CEO Suneet Singh Tuli, who claimed the data streaming technology offered by his company could make internet access costs virtually free.

"We hope to make internet free on our devices with that technology." Tuli is experimenting with a technology that can stream a 700MB file compressed into a 25MB on a tablet. Aircel could be the likely operator, said executives of the two companies, requesting anonymity.

iPhone 4S lowest model at Rs 44,500

Apple fans in India are set for a shocker. They will have to shell out Rs 44,500 for the lowest model of the iPhone 4s.

The handset's prices were out after Bharti Airtel revealed them on its website and launched pre-bookings on Friday, prior to the official launch on November 25. The 32 GB model is priced at Rs 50,900 and the top-end 64 GB model for Rs 57,500.

Aircel, the other operator to announce the iPhone 4S on its network will also sell this phone at the same price band.

Apple's earlier model, the iPhone 4 sells in India for Rs 35,500 for 16GB and Rs 41,900 ($816) for 32GB.

On November 24 (12am, Nov 25), select stores in all big cities across India will be opened for sales of iPhone 4S. But unlike the US and other markets such as Japan and Singapore, the midnight launches have failed to draw crowds in India.

The iPhone 4S is launching in India more than a month after it was unveiled in the US market.

Amazon may bring its own Smartphone in 2012

We all know how Amazon has been giving tough competition to the iPads and other handheld tablets in the price segment thanks to the Kindle Fire, and it should not come as a surprise if it comes out with its own smartphone anytime soon.

To take this a step further, Citigroup’s research team predicts that Amazon will put the Smartphone in market in Q4 of 2012.

Airtel is now offering the iPhone 4S on Pre-Order, starts at Rs. 44,500

We just bumped into Airtel’s website and found out that the recently launched Apple iPhone 4S is now available in pre-order. While this might be good news for some, but its a huge disappointment to many as the price of the handset is a bit too steep.

From the image you can see that the iPhone 4S 16GB version is for Rs, 44,500 and the 32GB version is for Rs. 50,900. The 64GB version is nowhere to be seen and we can only imagine how high the price for that might be (Rs. 55,000 maybe?).
